This image was inspired by Otherland, a book by Tad Williams. In the future, cyberspace becomes the primary source of entertainment, information, and commerce. The wealthiest individuals in the world join together, spending billions to construct a virtual world which would eventually provide a sanctuary away from death itself. The oldest and wealthiest of this brotherhood already lives exclusively in his virtual world while his useless body wastes away in the real world.
